A period ends….

Last week little Geffen went to her caregiver for the first time.
3 days a week she spends the morning with her till 13.00.

It’s the end of a period, a period where she and I spent 24 hours a day together. A period where I always knew what was going on with her, what she's doing, what she needs. It's hard to let go…
The first two days I felt at a loss at home without her, I walked around, tried to clean and tidy up, I couldn't bring myself to sit and work. I worried about her despite being totally confident with her caregiver whom I love very much.
After a couple of times where we both had settled in to the new situation, I began working. Suddenly I have time alone in the studio, it was quiet and I felt a different energy.
I'm working again.
I torched, prepared some more hair pins and pendants, ordered supplies, photographed and happily entertained visitors in the studio.
Changes..

Wish you all a beautiful and safe week!

She is so like me….

Ever since Dror was born I am constantly told how much she is like Gil. It's true, her coloring and long eyelashes…what fun it is as she grows older to see she is becoming more like me. We laugh at the same things, we're both scared of spiders, dance and sing almost all day long and both share a passion for creating. All day she "works hard" (in her words) doing arts and crafts, pasting, cutting, planning and preparing, folding, collecting beads, shells, papers and fabric…a mini-me!

I love watching her sit in her little room surrounded by cut paper everywhere, singing songs and creating. The floor is always messy from glue and paints and she just looks up at me with a look that says " I have no choice, I have to work.."

I can't wait to move into the new house and organize her craft corner properly. A wooden table and chair specifically for crafting, with a lot of baskets for all the knickknacks she collects, a little studio corner of her own.

Today I put her down to sleep, told her a magical story I made up...(who needs a story from a book when mom makes up magical stories that oddly has thing in it that fit in to what is happening in her life…) gave her a kiss, sweet dreams, I turned off the light. After a few minutes I heard rustling noises…I turned on the light and there she is, sitting on the floor with paper, scissors, glue, beads and colors…I look at her and she is so special… she glances up and sees me…"mommy I have to work. I have an idea…its ok isn't it?"

I love you my little artist.

Studio Time – lampworking

These days I am fairly limited with my studio time… the girls are on holiday and we spend time pleasantly at home and in the surrounding nature. Gili is working around the clock so we can move into the new house before the beginning of winter. (This renovation is taking forever, sometimes it seems like the long awaited move will never happen…)

Yet here I am, trying somehow to find time for all the things I want to make. And there are a lot of those. I'm working simultaneously on three difference collections: new glass beads in warm inviting autumn colors, my jewelry collection and my new baby "Bindu collage dreams" – soft pictures with a scent of vintage for children's rooms…(I hope to post some pictures soon).
So much to do and so little time… sometimes I find it hard to focus with so many ideas running around in my head, that is why I was so happy to have been approached by an American Jewelry artist, asking me to work together with her.
She has "forced" me to focus on my work in my glass corner of the studio. :-)
The client looked through my store and chose beads that she liked and that suit her work. I love collaborations like these. In the past I have had contact with a number of jewelers and I enjoyed it very much.
Here are some of the beads she chose. Some I custom made for her and some were already in my store. I can't wait to see how she incorporates them in her beautiful work.

Also, finally, after a few weeks I have added new beads to the store. it's always fun to add and renew.

The upcoming week is planned for "studio time" – preparing new glass beads, making new pictures made from the pretty vintage paper I have recently purchased. And one day set aside just for photographing the new girl chains and my new "Bindu Collage Dream" collection.

Wishing you all a creative and love filled week!

Bonfires and fairs

I'm going through some hectic days.
It's an intense period of holidays with a lot of meals, customs and festive atmosphere all around. I had been busy mainly organizing my work and preparing for the Succoth fair that I participated in.
Each year at Succoth there is a lovely fair at EinGev, on the shores of our wonderful Kinneret, full of activities for the kids, art stalls and a great atmosphere.
So I prepared more girls pendants of all sorts (mainly kitty because they are the first to sell…) I also found myself preparing (with great pleasure) vintage style pictures in pastel shades for children's rooms. Suddenly it happened. I began playing with all the papers, fabrics, laces and knickknacks strewn around and I began putting together little, unique pictures. So much fun to make! They made their debut at the fair; I am totally in love with them :-)

The fair this year was less busy than last year but I enjoyed the company and the beautiful view.
Here are a few pictures of my mother's stall.

On  Monday morning I barely managed to wake up and felt fatigued the whole day. In the evening Gili decided enough lounging about and we should make a bonfire on the lawn (or what is left of it after drying it up for the move, which hurts because it was the lawn we were married on). We collected wood, mattresses and suddenly the evening started looking promising. Something stirred and all four of us started smiling, laughing and enjoying ourselves.
It was a fun evening. Just us and pizza :)

Wish you all wonderful days!
